April 2019 Newsletter

April 2, 2019

Hello and I hope you receive this letter well!

We at the Maryland Vapor Alliance Inc. want to contact you and thank you for your continued support. We have been working for a friendlier environment for the vape industry in Maryland. Although we are met with many challenges, we continue to fight for our right to do business in a fair market.

How are member donations used?

Every member of the organization pays member dues and we use those dues to establish relationships with our legislators and be informed of legislative activity that affect our businesses. We are always striving for a better climate for business and we are working with the VTA to promote the many benefits of vapor. This year your contributions helped us make better connections with our legislators, helped with finding people for a national TV commercial for vaping and we were featured on a popular local podcast that legislators listen to called A Minor Report. With your continued support we plan to launch more PR initiatives in Maryland to educate our legislative body and the general public on the benefits of vaping products.

We are soon wrapping up this session in Annapolis and are already looking to next session. It is vitally important that we continue to build these relationships over the summer with our legislators. We need to meet with them, have them visit our shops and talk to the customers of the member shops so they can see first hand how tremendous of an impact vapor has had in peoples lives. Look for an update and an end of session report as Annapolis wraps up.

August 14-17 there is an even in Ocean City MD and the MVA will be participating and we invite all those interested to take part. This even in OC MD will be an opportunity to personally interact with a lot of legislators. This is a great opportunity for use to make connections and show we care about the industry we represent.

Details can be found at http://www.mdcounties.org/353/Summer-2019

The next meeting is scheduled for April 15 2019 at 1130AM at Perry’s Restaurant in Odenton Maryland. Our lobbyist will be there explaining what transpired this session and our strategy for next session. I have to get with our lobbyist because he wants a strategy meeting possibly before the MVA meeting starts with our board members. Like I said before this summer is crucially important for us to make relationships with our legislators. Next year we may be facing flavor bans and taxes we need to get to work on education.

Again, thank you for your support. Without you and your business the MVA would not exist!
